A Chord from Heaven (I)
09:29
|
|||
(overture)
Now that you've felt my existence
I'm not in my house but yours
Listening for footsteps in bedrooms, opening your cabinets and doors
I have named this stance "distance"
Observant, a fly on your wall
She sits and listens to whispers of his secret telephone call
Calling me closer to imploding desire
The rising of smoke and the screeching of tires
Calling me closer 'till the moment retires
Till the chord from heaven falls like hell between the rain
You let me know all too often
The notes that you write me I keep
Between the folds in my wallet, your heart sleeps with crumpled receipts
When we parked at the edge
As the summer wind gets her undressed
We held perfection our clammy palms and braced for the rest
Calling me closer...
2 AM
I need you
2 AM
I miss you
2 AM
I'll meet you
2 AM
I'll fix you
Now that we're alone
Calling me closer to imploding desire
The rising of smoke and the screeching of tires
Calling me closer 'till the moment retires
Till the chord from heaven falls like hell between the rain

Returned to Earth (II)
09:23
|
|||
Whoa, the distance grows
I walked in the room with a raincoat and mangled smile
I approach the winged woman, taking her into my eyes
My eyes are beds tonight
She is the vultress, she's a master at the game
Will I follow her every move, calling it frame by frame?
Who says that everything is made from gold instead of sand?
Who says that worth will not return to earth my my cold hands?
I will walk her to the edge, returning her to sea
The rain falls like hail tonight a downward assault on this barren earth
Walking around to her side of the car I open the door and let her out
We walked down hand in hand to the edge of the cliff where our fathers died
Colder still the sun is far gone as I push her down to the depths of my eyes
My eyes are beds tonight
My eyes are beds tonight and she lies across the coastline
My eyes are beds tonight, I cry, I'm blind, I'm blind
By the grace I felt that night, I'm taking her home
A suicide manifold
She knows only what she is told
I drop her at the mansion gates
The distance grows, she walks away
Giving back to Caesar what is Caesar's
I stepped in the car with the weight of this world off my shoulders
Turned the key and drove away
And the estate has nothing to say
The sun comes out again and evaporates the rain
With my eyes in the rearview mirror
Who says that everything is made from gold instead of sand?
Who says that worth will not return to earth by my cold hands?
I drive off in the light of the day and the estate has nothing to say
Whoa, the distance grows

The Path (III)
05:52
|
|||
You are not the man of the house
I will reverse our dilemma and rescue your spouse
Lock your doors boy let's see how you squirm
My army is waiting outside just to see if you've learned
When she called onto me, I could feel like a hero, is that nothing?
Or does it make your tiny head spin?
And you think you're charming I'm sure
The heart you discard and the hate that you long to procure
Performed with effeminate class
The difference between fact and fiction is kicking your ass
When she called onto me
And she told me what you did, are you stupid?
Come out, we'll test your wit
I will break the chain you made
I will shout to make my claim
I will not surrender to your cowards' game
The path remains the same
You carry your weapons so high
But when I arrived you retracted and aimed at the sky
Hoping that passive aggression would land in my skull
That's a lasting impression
When she called onto me
And she told me what you are, you went too far
Come out boy this means war
I will break the chain you made
I will shout to make my claim
I will not surrender to your cowards' game
The path remains the same

Reinvocation (IV)
09:29
|
|||
I tell a tale of a funny mirror with a perfect frame around it
The mirror fell out of the sky, in the boy's backyard it grounded
He took a look into the glass but in his face's place
Like a stowaway in fresh-cut grass, lay Mary, Full of Grace
The priestess opened up her eyes to meet the prince's gaze
She whispered, "Will my looks suffice? Do they compromise? Amaze?"
He answered "If they compromise me, do them what they please.
I wish to be forsaken, goddess, take me on my knees"
He didn't know what laid behind the glass
The distorted reflection that gave him attention he craved
The curves in the mirror that skewed all the hues he had seen in the past
You never know what sort of wonders can lie in your face
An overwhelming feeling made him quiver to the core
His outstretched hand met only glass, his heart sunk to the floor
She fogged the pane with liar's breath and wrote with dainty thumb:
"I go to see the opera every night, love. You should come."
Reinvocation of a harlot soul we've faced and never erased, forever conditioned
Would you agree (Would I ever) to being permanently pushed along the path to perdition
If the thought heard 'round the world
Through the young boy's heart should fly
Would he pick himself back up again
Or curse us all and die
Does this conflict of interest concern us all
Do you change to bridge the distance, change to break your fall
I am asleep, I will not wake up
These dreams are merging now with waking hours, I've had enough
When the time to make definitive decisions is at hand
Will the pre-pubate participate and make himself a man
Does the weight of the debacle add to shackles we accept
The gullible is malleable, the skeptic is inept

The Siren Screams (V)
07:55
|
|||
The overture is over and the angel takes the stage
She belts an aria with fairy dust and turns to walk away
The men in the crowd all cheer for more
While the boy in the front row swears he's seen her before
A shot rings out in the auditorium
It echoed off the atrium and through the baroness's lung
The boy in the front row leaps on stage to save her soul
A staged attack, it fades to black, bringing out the opera in us all
The ambulance arrives in time at the scene of the crime
The audience cheers as the young boy's fears all come to life
The monster in the balcony makes his getaway
While the boy with the angel in his arms swears to make the monster pay
A shot rings out in the auditorium
It echoed off the atrium and through the baroness's lung
The boy in the front row leaps on stage to save her soul
A staged attack, it fades to black, bringing out the opera in us all
Bring out your dead, the siren screams a metronome
To the actress's head, you know that it has to be so
The eyes of the beast are gripping at first and then they release
You're under the gun and under attack, there's no going back
And the power of good will compel you
The devil's ears can make out your mood, discover your fears
You're under the gun, it's aimed at your heart, your story is done
And the power of good will compel you
I will divide you
I will destroy you
I will make you feel numb
Do you feel numb?

At the Edge (VI)
24:46
|
|||
In these burdened moments, caught in inexperience
The world goes out of focus
Sweat pours down his eyes but he's too scared to notice
In these burdened minutes, presented with the source of my pain
Growing vengeful and livid
A man once respected belied and rejected
But through this immortal lens
A mortal cries out
His world on her depends
The boy in the scope of the beast cocks, back, and defends
Let now the bell toll
Let all who stands before me hear it ringing
Join me or die,
Let curtains close on this inevitable end
"Find your army!
Choose your allegiance!
"Now shall you pray for forgiveness, child of innocence!
If not saved by ignorance, I would strike you down with God as my witness.
"Your freedom relies on my charity
Your right to live is contingent on clarity
Now rub the pane gently
Define your fidelity!"
Let now the bell toll
Let all who stands before me hear it ringing
Join me or die,
Let curtains close on this inevitable end
That night we lay wide awake
The backseat keeps ur secret safe
The glory of the mighty spell
The stars shone bright before they fell
You can't tell me I was wrong
You can't keep me strung along
You were everything but everything's long gone
That morning made fears alive
I believed in words contrived
My tired eyes, betrayed
Symptomatic of the end of days
You can't tell me I was wrong
You can't keep me strung along
You were everything but everything's long gone
If the first shot missed his heart, and the second never fired,
is the deed left undone?
If given this last chance to transform your regret,
would you pick up your gun?
Go now, forward to the end
We all on us now depend
The ends will justify the means
Though such justice futile leans
Find strength to tear your world apart
Retrieve the mirror from your heart
Go then, to the edge, alone
Make the jagged coast its home
The trail of men whose bodies line
This boulevard of my design
Their bones are scattered, clothes are torn
With rats and gnats they are adorned
I am blameless, I stayed true
To nature's cruel intent for you
Not guilty for the man I'll kill
The predator predates me still
I jog down the night-deadened alleys where no one can hear me
Vacant lots and fragrant bars
I can sense I'm not alone
A stirring in the alcove interrupts my shortcut home
Enter the vagrant
Though my mind erased his face...
He cackles ironically, Caesar, sans time and place
Surrounded by the remnants of his childhood
Colored bricks of plastic, covered box of sand
I discovered the boy rocking gently with the mirror in his frightened hands
Daring not to stare it in the eyes for what lies there is scared and scarred as him
Quaking in the corner seeing all his features bordered by a frame of sin
I will guide him to the edge
He will see his fears alive
How far we are / we are from home / from home for someone / for someone to call / someone to call our own / someone to call
With a swift and single motion, the boy cocks back and throws
The man nor boy will notice how the golden remnant glows
The jagged rocks below them merge the mirror with the land
The ocean scatters bits of it and mixes them with sand
